Gap Swiftly Moving on From Kanye West, NYC Change Signals Yeezy Gap’s Demise

Kanye West‘s ugly divorce from Gap is no shock to folks at the company — turns out the handwriting was on the electronic wall, several of them … right in the heart of Times Square.

While Kanye made the announcement Thursday morning that he was closing Gap, his former partners began packing up Kanye’s stuff the day before. This video was shot in the late July outside Gap’s flagship NYC shop. It was shot back when Ye was still in control.

Ads promoting his Gap Yeezy Balenciaga ‘Dove Hoodie’ were everywhere on video billboards at street level and on huge screens above the store entrance.

The “after” footage, though, was shot Wednesday at 1 PM, and all visual evidence of Ye had already been scrubbed — more than 12 hours before Mr. West announced the partnership was dead.

Before Ye ripped Gap publically, he had already been reducing its stock by 3. 64%, a 7-week low — Ye’s lawyers had fired off a letter to Gap … claiming it fed him empty promises about releasing clothing and opening brick and mortar Yeezy Gap stores to specifically hawk his designs.

The Times Square footage clearly shows that both sides have abandoned negotiations long before we were all aware it was over. It also shows that Gap doesn’t seem to be losing much sleep over this.

Ye is not, of course,… but he did explain why he was done talking to Gap.

We know any remaining Kanye inventory will still be sold at Gap, but after that, you won’t be able to find any new designs from him there. It’s possible to sue.
